Lost & Found

Abstract poem banner

Chaos: What’s happening?
Confusion: Where am I?

Not making sense of something doesn’t mean it’s senseless
And in truth I always know exactly where I am;
I might just not know where ‘here’ is in relation to anywhere else
For a while

How can I discover somewhere new
Unless I step away from what I already know?

‘Found’ always has ‘Lost’ before it
It’s the ‘Lost and Found Counter’
Though I recognise ‘Found and Lost’ to be true in my life too

Just because right now something doesn’t make sense to me
Doesn’t mean it always won’t

Everything changes
It can’t help but change

In time I may understand
That things may not be as chaotic
As they seem

Chaos and confusion:
Simply the times when I don’t yet understand

So I relax
Perhaps if I live long enough
And notice
It will all make sense

'Lost & Found' is from the forthcoming book 'A Handful of Seeds'
